Proposed property tax hike is hardest on businesses. Your voice can make a difference!
Informational Property Tax Luncheon
Thursday, December 13th from 12:00-1:30 pm
Green Mill Restaurant & Bar
Cost: $15 for Chamber Members • $25 for Non-Members
The Hastings City Council is considering a proposed 2% increase in the city's 2013 budget. Because commercial and industrial properties are taxed at a significantly higher rate than residential properties, businesses will carry a disproportionate share of this burden.
Kaye Rakow, Director of Public Policy at NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, has been invited by the Chamber to speak at a luncheon seminar on December 13th from 12:00-1:30 pm at the Green Mill Restaurant & Bar. This is an opportunity for the business community in Hastings to better understand the spending trends, revenue trends and cost drivers influencing increases in their property taxes.
What can you do? Attend the tax luncheon to get the facts.
Then attend the December 17th City Council meeting and let the Council know how this proposed tax increase will affect your business. Your voice - and the voice of others - can make a difference as the City of Hastings sets its levy based on the needs and expectations of its citizens.
